Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgest on Wednesday said they are seeking private investment in various sectors to make the State a premium tourism hub.

Inviting investors to visit AP to understand the investment opportunities in tourism after granting industry status in the New Tourism Policy unveiled for 2024-29, he said they are targeting to attract an investment of Rs25,000 crore so that they can increase the State revenue and generate employment jobs to many.

He was speaking on investment opportunities on tourism at the South Asia's leading Travel and Tourism Exhibition in New Delhi. The Minister said due to proactive policies by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, they are keen on attracting investments under Public Private Partnership (PPP) route to promote sustainable tourism by improving the existing infrastructure, services and innovative models to bolster the sector's competitiveness. "We want to increase the influx of both domestic and international tourists as we have plans to develop a Buddhist circuit and encourage rural, eco, wellness, temple, adventure and various other forms of niche tourism," he stated.

Earlier, Durgesh called on Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and sought his support for getting Central funding to promote temple and spiritual tourism. He later said the Central Minister promised to sanction funds under various heads.
